Innovative pilot projects in Beijing and Shanghai
The "Motor Vehicle Parking Regulations" issued by Beijing in May 2024 encourage the upgrading of flat parking lots to mechanical or self-propelled stereoscopic garages, allow the use of idle land to set up temporary parking facilities, and put forward detailed requirements for sound insulation and vibration reduction, fire safety, etc. Shanghai is promoting full coverage of smart road parking lots by 2025, plans to add 4,500 new public parking spaces, and pilot "caisson-type" parking garages to improve land utilization through vertical shield technology.
